Chapter 10-Ella Richards

 Chapter 10

    By: Ella Richards

So far, I feel as though reading, Are You Fully Charged, has changed some of the little things I do and see in my daily life. In chapter 10 specifically, Tom Rath wants people to focus on making each interaction or conversation you have to be 80% positive. I think that this concept is quite beneficial. This is because, when talking to someone you do not want to be overly positive, but you also do not want to be super negative! It is better you be more positive than negative though because your positiveness can help change someone's day for the better.  For example, I remember one time one of my best friends was having one of her bad days, and I wanted to help her feel better, for even just a little. I decided to take her out and treat her to lunch. I know this small action of mine may not have been a mood changer all together, but it at least took her mind off of the things she was worried about.

I think that if society took Rath's words into consideration, we would be an overall happier and more pleasant world. The people I have been in contact with recently, have not been super negative, but they also were not positive. I would say this is due to the ongoing pandemic. Obviously, people are going to be struggling to bring their life back to normal and even provide support for their families. It is hard to be positive when the world is going through a very negative time in history. I believe that if people just take small steps to become more positive, the world will slowly start to change. These people can make a prominent development of how society functions!

Chapter 1-Ella Richards

My First Blog Post By: Ella Richards  In chapter one of, Are You Fully Charged, Tom Rath, tells the readers about his rare genetic condition that led to cancer and how that diagnosis made him want to live everyday to the fullest. I 100% agree with him. He says many times throughout the chapter that, "It's the little things in life that create the most meaning" (Rath). I think that this is true, because there are little things in life that can change someone's whole day. For example, if I am having a bad day and someone takes the time out of their day to say something nice to me or even a simple, "Hello", it makes me happy that other people care just a little. In my life, I feel as though I need to start creating more meaning in my life. Right now, I focus more on the big picture of things. I can start by not worrying about the big things in life, start small and work myself up! Like the quote from above, the little things in life do create the most meanin...

Chapter 6- Ella Richards

Chapter 6 By: Ella Richards     In chapter 6 of,  Are You Fully Charged? by Tom Rath he talks about how you should stay true to yourself and follow your own footsteps. He says, "Even in the worst situations, you can find opportunities for growth" (Rath). This statement really sticks out to me, because I can relate to it on a personal level. For example, when I do poorly on a test or exam I am upset about it for the first few hours. But with this I also find myself hoping for growth. I know for next time I need to study just a little bit longer and try and really focus on doing good.            This chapter made me really look at how I can create meaning in my life, by just following my dreams. I need to focus on what I want to do in life and what makes me  happy. Although making my parents happy is always a plus, I need to do what I think is the right choice for me. I should be following in my own footsteps. The same thing sho...

Chapter 5-Ella Richards

Chapter 5 By: Ella Richards     In chapter five of, Are You Fully Charged , Tom Rath wants the readers to focus on asking the world what it needs and how to create meaning when you are changing the world. There are three categories in which people have in their life. Interests, Needs, and Strengths.  Reflecting on my life, I realize that I put my interests before the needs of others and the world. I am still growing up, so I never really thought about putting the needs of others before myself. That was until I took a class in my senior year of high school called, Multicultural Studies . That class informed me about how other cultures were living around the world and just how privileged I am. I can now say, that I look at things in a different light now, and am more knowledgable about different cultures and issues that they face.          This chapter specifically talks about how people need to focus on the natural talent that they possess to...
